The Latrobe, Thomson and Avon river catchments contain some of Victoria's most significant river systems. These three river systems form the total catchment of Lake Wellington, the western-most of the Gippsland Lakes. This EPA publication provides a detailed study of the environmental condition of rivers and streams in the Latrobe,Thomson and Avon catchments. An overview of the report is available.

The Latrobe, Thomson and Avon catchments contain some of Victoria's most significant river systems. These three river systems form the total catchment of Lake Wellington, the western-most of the Gippsland lakes. The demands on these freshwater resources are considerable. Australia's largest pulp and paper mill, most of the State's power industry, much of Melbourne's water supply and the State's second largest irrigation district fall within their catchment boundaries. This EPA publication provides an overview of the environmental condition of the rivers and streams in the Latrobe,Thomson and Avon catchments.
