This video clip shows progressive switching on and off of a number of spatial information layers which have been modelled using the software package Gocad.

Transcript/Description: This video clip shows progressive switching on and off of a number of spatial information layers which have been modelled using the software package Gocad2. The Gocad model is rotated during the screening to change the perspective. The study area is a portion of the Bet Bet catchment near Lexton in central Victoria. The information shown by this study has been used to help understand the connection between groundwater aquifers and explains why groundwater quality varies across this catchment and to understand the discharge of saline groundwaters in some locations.

2. Gocad: Gocad is a software solution for modelling geological objects in 3D. It developed mainly from the petroleum industry integrating geological, geophysical and engineering concepts in a computer aided drafting (CAD) platform. It has been developed by an international consortium and continues to be applied in a variety of situations including structural geology around Victoria's mineral fields by the GeoScience Victoria and in understanding groundwater aquifers by PIRVic.
