The Landscape Plan for the Lake Eildon Landscape Zone is published as a component of this document (above). Only sections relevant to the Lake Eildon Landscape Zone are shown below.

Lake Eildon Landscape Plan

This Landscape Plan for the Lake Eildon Landscape Zone - August 2003, was produced in collaboration between S. Way & E. Moysey - Ecology Australia, Fairfield; K. Lowe & H. Anderson - Biodiversity and Natural Resources Division, DSE; M. Howell - Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority.

The Lake Eildon Landscape Zone consists entirely of the Central Victorian Uplands bioregion and is dominated by Lake Eildon Reservoir and surrounding Lake Eildon National Park. The area is a focus for water-based recreation and tourism activities. To the north-east towards Merton, and north-west, towards Mansfield, the landscape has been extensively cleared for agriculture. The predominant EVCs are Grassy Dry forest, Herb-rich Foothill Forest, Valley Grassy Forest and Floodplain Riparian Woodland. Lake Eildon Landscape Zone has high biodiversity values with numerous threatened species recorded in and around the Lake Eildon National Park. The zone supports populations of Leafy Greenhood, Common Bent-wing Bat, Eastern Horse-shoe Bat, Powerful Owl, Spotted Tree Frog, Striped Legless Lizard and White-bellied Sea-eagle. Threats to biodiversity in the Lake Eildon Landscape Zone include tourism, recreational impacts to water quality and the flora and fauna of Lake Eildon National Park and weed infestations in disturbed areas (e.g. St. John’s Wort).
