Erosion in Melton Reservoir Catchment 1948

This report on "Erosion on the Melton Reservoir Catchment" reported on investigations to determine the cause and extent of erosion in the catchment of the Melton Reservoir and the consequent siltation of that storage. It was prepared by Ian Forbes of the former State Rivers and Water Supply Commission and published in 1948. Information concerning the geological structure of the area has been summarised and mapped, and soil characteristics have been detailed, particularly in relation to erodibility. The vegetation of the area is also discussed, as are also forms of land use and incidence of rabbits. The report provides an interesting historical perspective on erosion in this region.
